Loveless Academic Magnet Program (LAMP) is a magnet high school located in Montgomery, Alabama. It has a student body of around 400. LAMP was formerly housed at Sidney Lanier High School, but moved into the former site of Loveless Elementary in 1999. A 9th grade class was added in 2001. In 2008, it was named #20 on U.S. News & World Report's Gold Medal List[1] and #56 in Newsweek's list of the top 1000 high schools in the United States. In 2011, Newsweek ranked LAMP as the number 13 best high school in the United States. [2] LAMP has accrued extensive scholastic acclaim, particularly in its ability to produce National Merit Scholars. Acceptance into LAMP is based upon academic records indicating demonstrated ability to complete higher-level academic courses and maintain disciplined study and work habits.

Students must maintain, for the current school year, a weighted academic average of 2.5 or better in the academic core courses (English, history, math, science and foreign languages) and acceptable conduct and attendance records.
LAMP Course of Study:
Grade 9
Honors English, Honors World History, Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II/ Trigonometry Honors Biology or Physical Science, Foreign Language (French, German, Latin, or Spanish), Computer Applications/Advanced Programming/Humanities or Humanities Elective (one semester of each) Physical Education.
Grade 10
Honors Grammar/American Literature, AP United States History, Geometry, Honors Algebra II/Trigonometry, or Honors PreCalculus, Honors Biology or Honors Chemistry, Foreign Language (French, German, Latin or Spanish, Computer Applications or Advanced Programming/Speech & Debate (one semester of each) Health/Driver Education (one semester of each) or Elective.
Grade 11
AP Language and Composition, AP European History, Honors PreCalculus, Honors Calculus, or AP Calculus AB, Honors Laboratory Chemistry, AP Biology, or AP Chemistry (double period, choose one), Foreign Language (French, German, Latin or Spanish), Field Study or Elective.

LAMP currently fields 17 competitive athletic teams in 3A competition. These teams consistently compete at the highest levels of athletics within the state of Alabama.
Beginning in the school year of 2012-2013, LAMP teams will compete in 4A athletics for the first time.
LAMP has developed a national reputation for excellence in academics due to high, regular rankings of Top High Schools in the United States.
